#4 Multicultural Education


1.Design a lesson for an education class with the theme “Unity in Cultural Diversity”. Take careful consideration of the parts of the lesson presented in this topic.


I.Objective
1. know the culture of others,
2. tell what are the importance having a unity in culture and
3. show appreciation to the other culture.

Value: Appreciation to the culture.
II.Subject Matter
            Topic: Unity In Cultural Diversity (traditional dance)
Materials:  power points, movies about traditional dance
III. Teaching Strategy
Motivation: 
            What are is culture in your own opinion.
                        What do you think we need to appreciate the different culture.
Discussion
            Watch the video about different culture.
            Present the power point that contains our culture from the movie.
Generativation
            What is culture?
            What are the traditional dances you know?
Application
            Identify what kind of traditional dance is being described.
Evaluation
            Give 10 mins to prepare each group to prepare and perform traditional dance.

 2. Together with your group mates in practicum, conduct a survey of one class either in CLSU or the school where you are having your practicum. Find out the diversity of learners represented by each student. Consider ethnicity, languages spoken, parental origin, culture (parenting), traits or giftedness the family is known for (music, business, coming from family of teachers…) and other related areas. Post the results including the school’s name and section of the class and the researchers’ names.

The table above shows that most of the pupils in Grade VI – Earth are Catholics. They comprised 67.74% of the class.

Accroding to table 3, 90.32% of the pupils from Grade VI – Earth belong to a complete family.

Based on table 5, 26 out of 31 pupils from Grade VI – Earth are pure Filipino and some has the origin from Spaniards which is equivalent to 16.31%.

            Table 5 shows that 48.39% of the pupils in Grade VI – Earth speak in pure Tagalog, 35.48% in Ilokano, 9.68% in Bisaya and 6.45% in Kapampangan.

Conclusion
            Based on the results of the survey, it is evident that Grade VI – Earth class is culturally diversed.
